Borussia Dortmund suffers a bitter setback before the duel against FC Bayern. A key player may not be available.
Dortmund – Borussia Dortmund is looking forward to the top game against FC Bayern on Saturday. In the classic of German football, the Westphalians want to finally defeat their big rivals from the south once again. However, there is bitter news for BVB before the landmark duel. Ramy Bensebaini is seriously injured and is out, and the use of regular goalkeeper Gregor Kobel is questionable.
Bitter news for BVB before the top game against Bayern
Borussia Dortmund will probably have to do without left-back Ramy Bensebaini for the rest of the season. The Algeria international suffered an inner ligament injury. Another appearance this season is therefore “unlikely,” said coach Edin Terzić at the matchday press conference on Thursday. At least no operation is necessary.
However, Bensebaini probably wouldn't have played a role in the starting eleven anyway. Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen has been on the left side of defense since January. Bensebaini, who was only signed on a free transfer from Gladbach in the summer, has only made four short appearances in the BVB jersey since his return from the Africa Cup with Algeria.

Kobel's loss against FC Bayern would hit BVB hard
A possible loss of goalkeeper Gregor Kobel would be much more serious. The Swiss has been out of action since Wednesday due to gastrointestinal problems. Kobel's use against Bayern is questionable, as Terzić announced. A decision will be made after the final training.
The number one only started training again on Tuesday after recovering from muscular problems. If a quick recovery doesn't work, replacement goalkeeper Alexander Meyer would be available. The 32-year-old had to represent Kobel in six of the last ten competitive games, did well and only conceded six goals. A loss by Kobel would still hurt BVB a lot in a duel with FC Bayern, where little things matter. FC Bayern is also worried about its goalkeeper: will Neuer be out against BVB? There is a new development.

Marcel Sabitzer will definitely be out. The Austrian, who moved from FC Bayern to Dortmund last summer, has to sit out the second game after his red card suspension.
But there was also some positive news regarding the staff. Jadon Sancho, Sebastien Haller and Julian Ryerson are available again.
BVB wants to stop its losing streak in Munich
After nine Bundesliga defeats in a row in Munich, BVB finally wants to score another coup against Bayern. “Our goal is to go to Munich on Saturday and finally turn things around,” said Terzić. His team must “act courageously”, “remain diligent” in every phase of the game and show “great efficiency and resilience”.
That would be urgently needed, because Dortmund are only one point ahead of RB Leipzig in fourth place in the table, which qualifies them for the Champions League next season. At least many Dortmund players were able to calmly look forward to the top game against Bayern after Nagelsmann's radical treatment
