Evi Dingebacher-Stehle and her daughter go cross-country skiing in the mountains. She then discussed a detail with a fan on Instagram.
Fishing – Evi Dingebacher-Stehle, who was born in Traunstein, is probably known to every winter sports fan. The now 43-year-old collected numerous medals in cross-country skiing at world championships and the Olympic Games and later switched to biathlon. She ended her career in 2014. However, she remained loyal to cross-country skiing and continues to travel in the Allgäu Alps and her two children also share their mother's passion. A video on her Instagram channel that shows her cross-country skiing with one of her daughters has now sparked heated discussions.
Cross-country skiing Olympic champion counters fan's accusation
“When your eight-year-old daughter shares the same passion with you,” Dingebacher-Stehle wrote about a video she posted on Instagram in which her daughter can be seen cross-country skiing. “But the most important thing is that they like to be outside, they like to move and that they enjoy what they do,” continued the cross-country skiing Olympic champion.
A fan of the 43-year-old noticed that her daughter wasn't wearing a helmet in the video. “Well, I'm not that much older myself, but riding without a helmet is really stupid,” he commented on the short film by Evi Dingebacher-Stehle.

It didn't take long for the former cross-country skiing world champion to respond: “I'm just wondering who is really stupid. Have you ever seen someone cross-country skiing with a helmet? It’s not dangerous, these aren’t ice slopes and it’s not really steep downhill, so don’t worry.”
Dingebacher-Stehle receives support after Helm allegations
Dingebacher-Stehle received a lot of support for her response to the fan's accusation. “This is cross-country skiing (!) and not skiing. Apparently you confused the sport,” an Instagram user replied to the original comment. Another cannot believe the comment: “Cross-country skiers with a helmet – where are you from?”

In the cross-country skiing and biathlon world cup, a helmet is not mandatory - unlike, for example, in alpine skiing and ski jumping. In many mountain regions there is also a requirement to wear a helmet for amateur skiers, but nowhere for cross-country skiers. (
