Alphonso Davies' departure in the summer is becoming increasingly likely. FC Bayern could get a replacement from BVB of all places.
Munich – FC Bayern is probably preparing for Alphonso Davies to leave in the summer! Contract negotiations with the Canadian have been dragging on for weeks. If both sides cannot agree on an extension of the contract, which runs until 2025, a sale is considered certain so that Bayern do not have to let Davies leave for a free transfer next year.
Real Madrid are considered favorites to sign him and want to lure the full-back to the Spanish capital. That's why Bayern are already looking for possible alternatives on the left side - and apparently found what they were looking for in Dortmund.

FC Bayern is apparently concerned with BVB star Ian Maatsen
According to consistent media reports, Bayern are looking at Ian Maatsen. The Dutchman is under contract with Chelsea in the Premier League and moved to Borussia Dortmund on loan in January. There, the 22-year-old attracted attention with strong performances, scoring one goal in ten games and assisting in two more.
Apparently BVB has secured a purchase option worth 35 to 40 million euros for the summer. According to
Sky,
a transfer of this magnitude will be difficult for Borussia to manage. Then FC Bayern could strike. The bosses are keeping a close eye on the situation surrounding Maatsen, but there are no concrete discussions yet.

Ultimatum in contract poker: Bayern bosses demand decision from Davies
The transfer fee would obviously not be a problem for the record champions - especially not if the sale of Davies in the summer brings millions more into their coffers. The squad planners around sports director Christoph Freund and sports director Max Eberl would actually like to extend Davies' contract beyond 2025, but recently gave the 23-year-old an ultimatum.

“We made Alphonso a very concrete, appreciative offer. At some point in life you have to say yes or no,” said Eberl about the offer to Davies. But his advisor doesn't want to let this put him under pressure. “It’s not fair that Alphonso is being attacked now,” Nick Huoseh teased the Munich bosses.
With Davies' departure: Will FC Bayern strike at Maatsen?
Apparently the Davies side wants to keep all options open for the summer and, according to Huoseh, not react to the ultimatum. It is a “very important contract” in Davies’ career. A decision should not be made until the end of the season - because the currently unresolved coaching question at Bayern also plays a major role for the 23-year-old.
Shortly afterwards, Eberl countered Huoseh's statements and continued to insist on a timely decision in contract poker. If this does not happen, the planning for a replacement is likely to intensify and Maatsen will become an even more specific topic. Eberl & Co. can see the Dutchman first hand on Saturday - then BVB comes to the Allianz Arena for the top game.
