During a Spanish third division match between Rayo Majadahonda and Sestao River this Saturday, Senegalese goalkeeper Cheikh Kane Sarr complained of racist insults. Indeed, while Sestao River had just taken the lead at the end of the match (2-1), some supporters uttered insults against the Rayo Majadahonda goalkeeper.
Without a second thought, he left his cage to jump into the stand and grab the scarf of one of the men present in the stands. After a few minutes of beating, he received a red card from the referee for his action and his teammates, in protest, left the field and did not want to resume the match. She was therefore stopped in the 87th minute.

The vice-president of Rayo Majadahonda, Iñaki Acha, gave his player's feelings on the Marcador show after the match: “He is devastated. I respected his decision and told the referee that we were not going to enter the field. If we have to accept a sanction, we will accept it, but for us, people come first.”
“It’s an absolute shame what happened today… Part of the stadium uttering racist insults against our teammate Cheick Sarr, because of the color of his skin,” regretted for his part Rayo captain Jorge Casado on Instagram.
“What a shame, it seems crazy that it’s 2024 and we have brainless idiots in stadiums running amok… We are all Sheik, no to racism,” he added.
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has still not reacted.

In the afternoon, Sevilla FC defender Marcos Acuña was also the victim of racist insults from Getafe supporters. A situation which pushed former Parisian Sergio Ramos to sound the alarm: “We asked for respect, that these people do not come here to say all this nonsense. It’s time to point the finger at them and stop them from entering the stadiums, football should unite everyone and not separate.”
