Nestory Irankunda is moving from Adelaide United to FC Bayern in the summer. He recently showed what the attacker is capable of doing against Western United.
Munich/Adelaide – Very few people in Germany would have seen live what Bayern newcomer Nestory Irankunda conjured up on the pitch during Adelaide United's game against Western United.

This is probably due on the one hand to the kick-off time - 12:15 a.m. Central European time on the night from Thursday to Friday - and on the other hand to the popularity of the Australian A-League in this country. And so what he delivered in the basement duel initially remained hidden to the majority of football fans.
Irankunda, officially an FC Bayern player from July 1st, scored three goals in his club's 4-1 win against the bottom of the table (as of March 30, 2024) and single-handedly secured his team's jump to ninth place.

He made it 1-0 with a beautiful direct shot from a tight angle into the far corner and then celebrated in the best Cristiano Ronaldo style. At 2-0, he was sent steeply and stayed cool in front of the opposing keeper, then there was the flick flack with a backflip. At 3-0, he headed the ball from just a few meters after a good combination.
It was the first hat-trick of the 18-year-old's professional career. Since the founding of the A-League, which completed its first season in 2005/06, no player younger than Irankunda has scored three goals in a game, according to the club's website.

Praise from Adelaide coach Veart for FC Bayern's summer signing
In the recent past, it didn't look at all as if the winger would be at his best again this season. In December he burst into tears following a substitution. In February there was criticism from his coach Carl Veart, who was again full of praise after the recent brilliant performance.
“I am pleased that he is receiving the reward for his work over the last few months. I think this also shows him that he can achieve these achievements if he continues to work and stays calm,” Veart, who also attested to Irankunda’s “maturity” and “very good performance,” told the media.
From July 1st, the talent will show his qualities on Säbener Straße. However, it is still unclear under which coach - after the rejection of Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso, the selection is at least getting narrower.
