Big concern for Jonas Vingegaard. The Dane was the victim of a very heavy fall during the fourth stage of the Tour of the Basque Country between Etxarri-Aranatz and Legutio (157 km). With 36 km to go, 12 riders fell to the ground in a bend on the Olaeta descent, including Jonas Vingegaard, Remco Evenepoel and Primož Roglič. The race was immediately neutralized.
While the five leading men including the Frenchman Mathieu Burgaudeau were getting closer to the end of the descent in order to tackle the last 30 km, more than ten runners, starting with the Eritrean Tesfatsion, were trapped by a bend left tight. Remco Evenpoel shot straight, while Jonas Vingegaard ended up in the ditch. The Dane, his back bleeding and screaming in pain, was evacuated on a stretcher.
