FC Bayern and coach Thomas Tuchel - a relationship that doesn't work as hoped. The coach is self-critical.
Munich - Thomas Tuchel had to make one thing clear: "I didn't want to appear frustrated," said the Bayern coach at the press conference on Friday about his team's renewed setback against BVB on the last matchday. The 2-0 defeat was the final decision in the championship fight, but it also led Tuchel to another realization: “I’m extremely dissatisfied with myself!”
The reason for this was not just the result, but the way in which the record champions performed against BVB: “I thought we were over it and wouldn't take a step back. But I know that sometimes things don't go the way you want them to,” explained the coach.
Looking at his entire time at FC Bayern, which is slowly coming to an end, he then added: “There is no reason to hide or complain. We just keep going, going, going. I will not release anyone, including myself, from responsibility - to go through this with my head held high and my chest broad, no matter how strong the headwind is.”
Tuchel on his championship congratulations to Leverkusen
Tuchel, on the other hand, understood less that there was criticism of his championship congratulations to Leverkusen: “We were ten points behind before the game last week and 13 points afterwards. I don't know whether that would have been the right time to declare a big comeback and remain credible at the same time." And so he and the record champions are left with the premier class alone to end their mutual relationship on a positive note. “There is still an overarching goal. And that is going to Wembley. We are in the quarter-finals, there are not that many steps left. Therefore, it is simply essential to subordinate everything to this in order to achieve this goal.
A successful performance in the Champions League would not only serve as a letter of recommendation for Tuchel for new employers, but would also provide FCB with arguments when looking for a coach. The election is currently focused entirely on Roberto De Zerbi and Julian Nagelsmann. Max Eberl recently told
