Ski ace Elisa Mörzinger has ended her career with immediate effect. She hung up her skis at just 26 years old.

Vienna – The 2023/24 ski season is in the books and several athletes ended their careers with the last race, including the Olympic champion Giuliano Razzoli. Another ski racer who is hanging up her skis is Elisa Mörzinger. The Austrian confirmed her resignation on her Instagram account.

Ski ace declares retirement

“Ending something that you have lived and loved for so long is damn hard. I've been struggling with the decision since December, but the fire for ski racing has burned out and I no longer feel joy about it. I am proud of what I have accomplished and grateful for all the adventures, experiences, achievements, friends and people I have met along the journey. “It was a great time, but I’m ready for something new,” shared the 26-year-old.

“A huge thank you to my family and friends, especially to my parents, for making it possible to live my dream, celebrate with me and pick me up! Thanks to all my trainers, soldiers, physios and masseurs over the years who pushed me to the limits and got me in shape,” continued Mörzinger.

The ski ace still wants to compete in one very last race. The Austrian championships will take place on the Reiteralm on April 9th. It will be the end of Elisa Mörzinger's career.

Last race for Mörzinger before the end of his career

At the age of 16 she took on her first FIS races in Schladming. In January 2016 she celebrated her debut in the downhill from Zauchensee in the European Cup. On October 26, 2019, Mörzinger made her World Cup debut in the giant slalom in Sölden, but it was not until January 2020 that she qualified for the second round in the parallel giant slalom in Sestriere for the first time. In this race she achieved the best World Cup placement of her career with second place.
