Aged 19, Bronny James, son of LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers), announced on Instagram his desire to join the NBA. By submitting his application for the draft, a system for recruiting young prospects in the American championship, the player hopes to propel his career.

Each year, the 30 NBA franchises choose the most talented and promising young players from the college circuit (NCAA), the development league as well as championships around the world. Last year, players like Brandon Miller (Charlotte Hornets) or our French Victor Wembanyama (San Antonio Spurs) and Bilal Coulibaly (Washington Wizards) were chosen among 84 other young people.

Bronny James therefore wants to be among these players, but does not close all the doors. In fact, the American has a plan B, staying in the NCAA. He has been playing there since May 2023 with the University of Southern California Trojans team.

Victim of a cardiac arrest last July, the young man of 1.93 m and 95 kg has been playing again since December, after medical authorization. He will have to complete aptitude tests to be approved for the 2024 NBA draft. If refused, the American plans to stay in the NCAA.

LeBron James would like to play with him

In his decision making, Bronny James will affect his father, LeBron James. Aged 39, the Lakers winger has only one wish before retiring: to play in the same team as his son. The franchise that offers Bronny's services will therefore have a chance of enlisting LeBron, especially since the two Americans have the same agent, Rich Paul.

This story takes on the appearance of a family affair: will LeBron James wait until his son joins the NBA to retire? Will Bronny James want to play on the same team as his father or risk being in his shadow? Fans are eager to know the answer.
