Eintracht Frankfurt welcomes SV Werder Bremen on matchday 28. A center forward is out for the duel with the North Germans.
Frankfurt – On the 28th matchday of the Bundesliga, Eintracht Frankfurt has to play against SV Werder Bremen and wants to consolidate sixth place in the table with a home win. But for this to happen, the SGE's offensive must work better than it did against Union Berlin. Hugo Ekitiké will definitely not be there; the center forward is out due to problems with his adductors.
Eintracht Frankfurt has to do without Ekitiké
“If you don't play for a long time, it takes time to get into your rhythm and unfortunately you always have problems. As a player, I experienced this firsthand. His loss is a great shame, he has recently made a physically stable impression and has shown again and again in his play that we can really use him," said SGE head coach Dino Toppmöller at the press conference about the Frenchman's loss.
Toppmöller didn't want to commit to the starting eleven yet; he has several options: "Hugo Larsson could play half-time, that's the recommendation, but he's not a candidate for the starting eleven. Farès Chaibi had a positive impact on our game against Union and also did well during the week - he is an option for the vacated place. But that's also Donny van de Beek. We will finally nominate the squad on Friday.”

The 43-year-old is optimistic that there will be a win in the Waldstadion: “We need a very high level of activity in the game against the ball, because Bremen has very good offensive processes. If we manage to build up a phase of pressure in the game with the ball, as we did in the second half against Union, then I think we have a good chance of winning the game.”

The guests from Bremen have great respect for Eintracht. “Frankfurt has its qualities and shows them again and again. That's why they are on an international level. It is important for us that we are with ourselves,” confirmed Werder coach Ole Werner at the press conference.
