Logan Sargeant got off to a bad start to his weekend at Suzuka with the Williams team. The American driver was the victim of an impressive off-track during the first free practice session this Friday morning. In a fast curve, his car bit into the lawn after rolling too wide before sliding and crashing into the wall of tires which cushioned the shock well.

“He was lucky because it’s a place where it can hit very hard
,” commented Jacques Villeneuve. Although the chassis was not too badly affected, certain parts of the car broke and Sergeant had to give up taking part in the second free practice session, the first having been dominated by Max Verstappen (Red Bull).
