Didi Hamann and Lothar Matthäus work as football experts for Sky. But their paths apparently never cross.
Munich – They played together at FC Bayern Munich and in the German national team. They now both work as football experts at the pay-TV channel Sky - and there, too, they recently worked together: Lothar Matthäus and Didi Hamann were considered the chief critics of FCB coach Thomas Tuchel for weeks.

Hamann now gave strange insights into the working life of him and his colleague Matthäus - which does not exist in the classic way.
Hamann explained in an interview with the
Süddeutsche Zeitung
: "It may sound funny, but I don't see Lothar all year." He added: "We are experts at the same channel, but he is usually in the stadiums, I am always in the studio."

Hamann talks about his past with Tuchel: “Could have definitely played in the Bundesliga”
In the interview, Hamann also discusses his relationship with Tuchel, with whom he also has no direct contact - although they have known each other since they were young. At that time the two played in the Bayern team. Hamann valued Tuchel as a teammate: “Good guy, very good sense of humor. We got along well, even though we were only together for a short time during the selection.”
According to the former midfielder, Tuchel was also a talented footballer. “What people no longer know is what a good footballer he was!” praised Hamann. “Technically excellent, good eye and understanding of the game, the perfect libero. At the beginning of the 1990s, however, the back four were on the rise, which wasn't his thing because he wasn't that incredibly fast. But above all he had to constantly struggle with injuries, otherwise he could definitely have played in the Bundesliga.”

Didi Hamann and his criticism of FC Bayern Munich
As a Bayern coach, Hamann criticized his ex-teammate more often. Among other things, he described it as the biggest misunderstanding since Jürgen Klinsmann. In general, Hamann rarely spares criticism of FC Bayern.
