Munich – FC Bayern will have to reposition itself in the goalkeeper position in the future. Regular goalkeeper Manuel Neuer's contract expires in 2025. It is uncertain whether the long-time FCB captain will extend his contract again. Uli Hoeneß has apparently already decided on a favorite to succeed Neuer.

We're talking about Alexander Nübel, who FC Bayern loaned out to VfB Stuttgart in the current season. The Paderborn native shows strong performances in Swabia and is one of the leading players.

podcast “Bayern-Insider” says, people on Säbener Straße are “impressed” by Nübel’s development. And even more important: Uli Hoeneß is “very impressed” and is said to be a fan of the 27-year-old. The honorary president is a member of the supervisory board at FC Bayern, and his word still has weight in the club. With Hoeneß, Nübel can be sure of an important advocate.

FC Bayern can save a lot of money with Nübel as their new successor
FC Bayern is currently examining Neuer's successor and is facing a fundamental decision. Sign a new goalkeeper or rely on Nübel in the future. One idea would be to extend the 27-year-old's contract and loan him to VfB Stuttgart for another year. In this way, Nübel could possibly gain valuable experience in the Champions League in the coming season and continue to mature.
This model would also have another advantage. Bayern could save the fee for a goalkeeper transfer of a rumored 40 to 45 million euros. Bart Verbruggen from Brighton & Hove Albion, Diogo Costa from FC Porto and Mike Maignan from AC Milan were recently mentioned as potential candidates.

New successor at FC Bayern? Nübel “knows what I want”
Nübel is currently “very high in the running,” the podcast continued. Even though the keeper made a mistake in the 3-3 draw against Heidenheim, FC Bayern's next opponent, before conceding a goal in a long time. The talks between VfB goalkeeper Nübel and FC Bayern are gaining momentum, so the mistake naturally came at an inopportune time.
He “actually wanted to keep the negotiations away from himself,” said Nübel. “Things sometimes happen at the wrong time.” They will certainly “get together in the next week, one, two, three weeks,” said the former Schalke player. “My advisor knows what I want.” He didn’t want to reveal his wish publicly “yet” on Easter Sunday. But staying in Stuttgart was “definitely a very, very good option,” explained Nübel: “I feel very comfortable here. I think everyone knows that.”
