FC Bayern Munich wants to expand – and is therefore planning a new performance center on Säbener Straße.
Munich – bankruptcy in the classic, embarrassment in Heidenheim, questions about the future squad and of course the personnel Thomas Tuchel: There are currently a lot of open construction sites at FC Bayern Munich. There may be another one added in the near future that completely corresponds to the original meaning of the word: the record champions are planning a new performance center.
FC Bayern is planning a new major project in Munich: “A central component”
The club has applied to the city of Munich to examine key points for a permit to build on the club's premises on Säbener Straße. CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen is quoted in an FC Bayern press release as follows: “Säbener Straße has been the home of FC Bayern for 75 years – and we want to stay here for the long term. However, it is necessary that we continue to develop the sporting infrastructure for our licensed players in order to continue to meet the highest national and international standards in the future.”
According to Dreesen, a new performance center is therefore “a central component so that FC Bayern can continue to convince international players and remain competitive at the absolute top level”.

FC Bayern Munich and Säbener Straße: tradition for 75 years
FC Bayern has been training on Säbener Straße in the southern district of Harlaching since 1949. An office was built in 1970 and since then the area has been continually adapted to new requirements. The last time extensive renovations took place was in 2008. Only the professional and second teams now train at the headquarters. The women's and junior departments moved to the campus in the north of Munich in 2017.
Dreesen also promised: “Of course, the neighborhood and political leaders will be transparently informed and involved in all planning steps in this process.”

FC Bayern is setting the infrastructural course for the future. On a sporting level, only the Champions League can save a completely messed up season. However, Bayern face a tough challenge with Arsenal FC.
