Author of a tackle, his shoulder directly in the head of Ulster full-back Addison, Sunday in the round of 16 of the Challenge Cup, Paul Willemse received a direct red card from the referee of the meeting, the Welshman Ben Whitehouse. His second of the season after his expulsion during France-Ireland at the opening of the Six Nations Tournament (and the 4th of his career).
The disciplinary committee suspended the Montpellier international second row this Thursday for five weeks. A sanction whose period is not yet known.
“Given that Willemse is currently injured, the precise dates of his suspension period will be communicated as soon as possible
,” the statement said.
End of season for the second row?
The MHR being eliminated from the European competition, Paul Willemse will serve this suspension in the Top 14. As there are only six days of regular phase remaining, and Montpellier, which is fighting to avoid being a play-off, will not participate in the final phase, it is likely that the second row's season is over.
