FC Bayern shows strong performance in the Champions League
You can't really make sense of FC Bayern at the moment. In the Bundesliga, the German record champions recently appeared anemic and disappointed across the board against Borussia Dortmund (0:2) and 1. FC Heidenheim (2:3).
In the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League, however, FCB coach Thomas Tuchel's team seemed to be in the mood for football again and put in a lively performance in a 2-2 draw against Arsenal FC.
Bayern welcomes Cologne in the Bundesliga: Is Tuchel resting his regular staff for the second leg against Arsenal?
So it wouldn't be surprising if the Munich team showed their honest league face again on Saturday against the second-to-last team from Cologne. The Rhinelanders, who are threatened with relegation, certainly wouldn't mind and need every single point in the relegation battle.
Since the quarter-final second leg will take place in Munich next Wednesday, coach Tuchel could rotate properly and spare one or two of the regulars for the showdown in the premier class. Either way, Serge Gnabry won't be able to take part on Saturday. The 28-year-old was injured in the game against the Gunners and will probably be out for weeks.
