FC Bayern has signed a long-term extension with Alexander Nübel. The reason for this could be a decision made in the backroom by Manuel Neuer.
Munich – FC Bayern announced the contract extension with Alexander Nübel on Friday. Its working paper, originally dated until 2025, has been extended in the long term until 2029. At the same time, it was agreed with VfB Stuttgart to park Nübel with their league rivals for two more seasons. The extension of the loan deal may be related to a decision made by Manuel Neuer.

, the Nübel loan can
be canceled after just one year using an option. Bayern have thus protected themselves in the event that the contract extension with Neuer fails. But the loan, which is basically defined for two years, clearly shows the tendency that Neuer can imagine at least another year at Säbener Straße.
Otherwise the agreed temporary transfer would make no sense at all. Neuer turned 38 in March of this year. When he has the necessary fitness, he still performs at a world-class level. Most recently, Neuer had to leave the national team due to a torn muscle fiber in his left adductor and then missed the two defeats against Dortmund (0:2) and in Heidenheim (2:3).

With a brilliant trick, Neuer also initiated the action that ultimately led to the penalty.
The facts: Neuer's contract expires in 2025 and was only extended in November last year. That alone was a clear commitment from Bayern to the 2014 world champion goalkeeper. “I have already said that it depends on the health situation,” said Neuer about his future a few months ago. And it seems to be getting better and better, as he revealed. “At the moment I’m feeling better and better.”

Neuer still enjoys a very high reputation – and not just on Säbener Straße. When Julian Nagelsmann was recently given the choice of whether he would go to the upcoming home European Championship as number 1 with Neuer or Marc-André ter Stegen, who has been performing at the absolute top level at FC Barcelona for years, the national coach left no doubts. Nagelsmann is relying on Neuer, who will easily have two more seasons at a very high level if there are no health setbacks. And then Nübel could inherit it.
