The 36-year-old football teacher is known to be high on the German record champions' coaching list. Struth confirmed this quite bluntly and chatted casually about the status of the negotiations: “Of course we are now having discussions. Julian himself has also announced that he will probably make a decision about his future in April.” According to the consultant, a decision can be expected “in the next five, six, seven days”.
Ideally, Bayern wants to present a new coach in April
This corresponds to the statement by sports director Max Eberl that, ideally, white smoke will rise in April when it comes to the coaching question: “We want to do it as quickly as possible because we also want to have planning security.” Those responsible around Eberl and the sports director work in the background Christoph Freund has been working on Nagelsmann's comeback on Säbener Straße for a long time.
After master coach Xabi Alonso signaled early on that he would stay in Leverkusen to the Munich team, the national coach became even more interesting. But in addition to the German record champions, there are other interested parties who also contact the DFB coach directly and do not take the detour via his management. The parties that are interested in working with Julian are already calling themselves and are in contact with him: “That’s right, because no matter who it is, they’ll work together later.”
Eberl doesn't let his cards be seen
As is well known, the collaboration between Nagelsmann and the former Bayern leadership around CEO Oliver Kahn and sports director Hasan Salihamidzic was only partially successful. In a cloak and dagger operation, the bosses, who have since been fired, summoned the trainer and his advisors to relieve the coach of his duties. However, the relationship between everyone involved and the new, strong sporting duo Eberl/Freund is untroubled and therefore offers Nagelsmann good conditions for a Bayern comeback.
When asked specifically about the latest podcast statements, the sports director remained tight-lipped. “I spoke to many. I never commented on names, but I never ruled anything out either," said Eberl and added: "I said that we had very, very many discussions and of course at some point we want to present our coach: If both sides say yes - that is like marriage.” According to Eberl, there are pros and cons for many trainers. “You can read all of my notes when the time comes,” promised the sports director.
