He won't have to wait very long to be talked about again. Returning to his training club US Créteil Lusitanos as sports coordinator since January, Sammy Traoré has just been taken back by the patrol for insulting a referee. Inappropriate behavior which resulted in sixteen games of firm suspension and a fine of 50 euros for his club.
As reported by L'Équipe, the former PSG defender (2006-2011) allegedly uttered insults, in addition to having been aggressive and disrespectful towards an assistant referee during an U16 match between his club and Racing Club of France in R1 (1-2).
Sammy Traoré claims “no major problem”
In addition to insults on several occasions, the former Malian international (21 caps) would have “encouraged his players to commit serious fouls on their opponents” according to the referee's report. The leader of US Créteil Lusitanos previously crossed the field voluntarily and delayed the resumption of the match at half-time.
For his part, still in the report sent to the commission, Sammy Traoré explained that he had “no major problem” with the referee concerned and did not have a “disrespectful attitude” towards anyone. Which was not enough to convince the disciplinary committee of the French Football Federation.
