How do you get a car in a coach? This is not the beginning of a joke, but the question that highway police asked on Highway 6. They had stopped a Czech bus driver who did just that feat. The answer is as ingenious as it is resourceful.
"There's a car in a coach". With this sentence, a caller reports to the police car station Kaiserslautern last night. The police do not trust their ears until another phone rings. A caller describes something similar. "Within minutes, several drivers called and reported on a coach, which allegedly transported a car - in the interior," says Steffen Sandmeier of the local highway police.

Curious Transporter: When the car needs to get on the busThe alarmed police patrol did not have to search long to locate the coach, built in 1976, in the direction of France. The officers drove the vintage car to a nearby rest area and then saw what the callers had already reported. Where else the passengers sat, a complete VW Passat was housed. In addition, numerous oil and gasoline cans and old tires.
When asked how the car got into the coach, the driver, a 40-year-old Czech, showed officials the solution to the riddle at the rear of the bus. There he had divided the rear wall with a cut-off wheel and provided hinges on the left and right. In this way, the rear could now open like a barn door and the bus loaded with the car.
The bus driver does not give up
"Maybe the driver also wanted to get a motorhome out of the bus and built a garage as the first expansion step," jokes highway police officer Sandmeier. "God knows why."
The police forbade the Czechs to continue their journey and ordered the loading of the car and the dangerous goods inside. The imaginative inventor now threatens a sensitive fine in the three-digit range. This was his ride for the time being ended. But he did not want to give up yet.
As imaginative as the Czech was with his transporter, he quickly organized the onward journey. According to the official, he called a couple of friends who were to come by with a car van. Why this idea did not come before him, the officials did not learn.
