Have long-haul flights (jet lag) and do not know what to do or how to prepare? United Airlines is currently launching a new app to help travelers cope with flying. The app is scientifically based, providing personalized recommendations on the best time to expose or avoid light, sleep and caffeine. The applet is for customers who cross at least three time zones and was developed in a first of its kind with Timeshifter.

How does it work? The Timeshifter algorithm is based on the analysis and weighting of several variables such as sleeping habits pattern, flight details, personal preferences and more. After weighting the data, it will provide guidance on when passengers should be exposed to light or alternatively avoid it, a sleep schedule and drowsiness, subject to users' personal sleep preferences.
