Chinese companies are competing for the Israeli market in the midrange category, which in itself constitutes a huge market share among consumers in the country. Devices are getting cheaper and better, and big companies like Samsung and Apple are struggling to keep their place and justice. This time our test desk arrived at the Meizu Note 9 - a mid-range device, but with some data put it somewhere else on the map, one that is closer to the world of mid-flagship devices. With a surprisingly low price tag, but a somewhat banal design, we tested whether it was surprisingly successful.

Design

The design of the new mezzo is very reminiscent of the X8 I tested earlier this year, and I had hopes that the company would not recycle the design and variety. In fact, you can hardly distinguish them from a distance except for the location of the camera lenses that move. It's a pretty banal choice, without any risk or forward thinking - quite disappointing. You could say it's the most solid design I've seen in the smartphone world. Maizu's logo and dual camera lens on a back of dark gray plastic, which at least benefits the device, give it a clean look. The glass-like plastic is the only thing that will probably make you feel like you are holding an intermediate device, because the casing feels so much higher in quality and durable. In general, it is amazing how a smartphone in a few hundred shekels can give the user such a premium feel by hand. In this aspect, the smartphone gets the full points.

screen

Maizo has never excelled in the field of screens and also in Note 9 she does not make an effort to change her noticeable feeling and feeling. The screen is IPS LCD and comes in 6.2 inch and FullHD + resolution. Simply put, this is a perfectly standard screen without any special features, and it really doesn't even try to stand out against the category competitors, but maybe that's not a bad thing either. The brightness is reasonable, the colors are saturated but not overly bright and the color calibration seems to be done moderately, although the white color tends to grayscale. As far as sharpness is concerned, resolution has already become the basis for the latest intermediate and flagship devices, so there will be no surprises. However, as a point of favor, the drawback and chin are not very large, so the size of the screen and the narrow margin make the Note 9 an ideal smartphone for watching Netflix, YouTube and the other streaming services.

Hardware and performance

When you look under the hood of the Note 9 you find a modest intermediate device, with the result test showing positive and surprising results. It runs through the Snapdragon 675 chipset alongside 4 Gig RAM and 128 Gig storage. This data provides the device with not a bad processing power at all, which means that the maze is able to produce performance that will not shame many intermediaries and other cross-country hybrids. Throughout my use of the device, he has worked without stuttering and has also run games that did not require too much resources without faltering. In fact, the device reminds the entire market that you can find perfectly reasonable performance even on devices with significantly lower price tags than flagship devices. Battery life was no less impressive with a 4,000-millimeter-hour such that it managed to provide, quite easily, a full day of use.

interface

The Chinese manufacturer integrates the Android operating system with the FlyMe interface, with our version 7.2 coming on our device. The interface paints the base of the Android operating system and produces a unique signature of Maizu, just like the interfaces of companies like Xiaomi and Samsung. Looking at how far this interface has progressed over the last two years, especially given the fact that it was packed with unnecessary apps, it is definitely possible to see how much the company has made in its field. You can pay attention to the trend of removing unnecessary apps and applications for the cleanest interface possible, but a facelift is still needed to make it look more modern and less banal. However, the Note 9 still came with some pre-installed games, all of which can be erased in a few moments. Another device comes with Android 9 directly out of the box, with at least currently unknown on Android 10 update.

Camera

The intermediate devices usually found relatively simple cameras that provided the most basic image quality, with an advanced processing algorithm that provided the minimum necessary. In fact, I never got too excited about the camera sets of the company's devices, but the one in Note 9 managed to exceed my expectations. The dual photography system features a 48-megapixel lens with a 5-megapixel lens with a f / 1.8 aperture key. The front photo array includes a 20-megapixel lens. The rear camera surprised with good field depth and a high level of detail, but very disappointed with all the color restoration. When shooting in dark lighting conditions, the mezzo provided relatively bright images without much noise thanks to its sophisticated night mode, but of course for losing much of the sharpness and detail of the illuminated images. Rarely did I get a picture with a distorted white balance and too high a brightness. The Chinese manufacturer has more to learn in the world of photography on smartphones, but it seems to be heading in the right direction.

Summary

The Mezzo Note 9 turns out to be a pretty basic device in every way and that's not a bad thing. It offers a solid design with no major surprises (except for the 3.5 headphone connector, which it still includes) and a screen that does not highlight any unique risk. The rear photography system produced bad pictures on the one hand and, on the other hand, not good enough to compete with other devices in the category. As far as the Meizu interface is concerned, it has been widely developed over the years and now offers a much more complete and organized experience, so if you have previously used an Android device, you should not get lost. Performance was excellent throughout my use with him, while battery life was particularly impressive, and sometimes enough for a day and a half of work. This is probably the most banal device that Maizu created, and in a sense, it is his greatest virtue. This is a recommended choice for anyone looking for a good device with the aim of providing good work in all respects at a price tag of NIS 999.
