Legendary musician and saxophonist Peter Wertheimer passed away this morning (Monday), at his home, from cancer. Wertheimer accompanied many artists, including Eric Einstein, Shalom Hanoch and Ofra Haza. At 73, he was dead.
Shirley and Alon, Wertheimer's children, got him talking to Walla! Culture: "There is so much to say about him. Beyond that he was a huge musician and a person that everyone loved, he was an amazing dad.

To the full articlePeter Joseph Wertheimer was born in Sato Mare, Romania, in 1946, a son of Lechner Andrei Wertheimer who stood out in local jazz. He studied violin contains five and later studied music at a school and Bucharest Academy of Music. In his youth, he was a member of the Electordecord Orchestra and the Romanian Broadcasting Authority Light Music Orchestra. In 1977 he immigrated to Israel and lived first in Kfar Gvirol and then moved to Tel Aviv. He performed in a variety of musical arcs - pop, jazz, and classical music.
Wertheimer accompanied, among others, Eric Einstein, Shalom Hanoch, Ofra Haza, Ilanit, Dori Ben Zeev, Izhar Cohen, Eric Lavie, the Gabatron band as well as many jazz artists. He has also performed as a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, and composed, among other things, jazz arrangements for Johan Sebastian Bach's works. In several cases, he appeared as an actor in Israeli films, "The Rubber Dealers," "Accompany Your Wife," and the "Nice Butterfly." In recent years, Wertheimer played with the Gabatron band.
In 1996, composer and conductor Rafi Kadishzon composed in his honor a musical piece called "Concerto to dismiss and orchestra", and in 2007 the Israeli Israeli Jerusalem concert held a concert in honor of his 60th birthday. Wertheimer left behind a mate, Miri, and two children, Oak and Shirley.
