The fall of a car in a river on Wednesday in Lampaul-Guimiliau, in Finistère, made a third victim, the youngest of three siblings also died, announced the police on Friday.
The eight-year-old boy transferred Thursday from Brest to the Nantes University Hospital when he was in critical condition died during the day, said the commander of the Finistère gendarmerie, Colonel Nicolas Duvinage. Thursday, he had already announced the death on the night of his 4-year-old sister.
Mother was able to get out of the car
The body of their 10-year-old brother was found lifeless by divers in the river several hundred meters from the scene of the accident. In cardiopulmonary arrest, the two youngest children had been transferred to the Cavale Blanche University Hospital in Brest.
The accident occurred in a straight line shortly before noon on a departmental road. The vehicle, driven by the mother who was able to get out of the cabin alone, plunged into the Quillivaron River at a small bridge and ended up on the roof.
The alcohol and narcotics tests performed on the driver were negative. No other vehicle was involved in the accident.
