It is a masterfully conducted operation by the Paris judicial police. Two men, aged 30, were arrested this Friday evening at the Porte d'Italie in Paris (13th century) when they demanded a ransom for the release of the son of a trader.

It all started on Thursday evening on Boulevard Magenta (Xe) when this young man, 20 years old, was surprised by big arms which forced him to get into a car. The kidnappers contact his father, who have businesses in this area of Paris, and demand that he give them several tens of thousands of euros against the release of his son. Investigators from the second district of the judicial police, supported by their colleague from the search and intervention brigade, set up a device to surprise the perpetrators in the act during the exchange between the hostage and the money. "In France, we never pay ransom demands," explains a source close to the case. The idea was therefore to arrest the kidnappers. ”

The client remains to be identified

At around 6 p.m. two kidnappers arrived at Place d'Italie with the victim and the police put their hands on their snares before they had time to sketch the slightest gesture. The young man was released. He is safe and has apparently not been abused.

The two suspects, who rather have the profile of goons, were placed in police custody on the premises of the second district. Their hearings can go up to 48 hours. The investigators will try to understand the context in which they acted. It may be "a history of debt around a business context but it has nothing to do with traffic," said another source. The client remains to be identified.
