War weapons seized in Paris

2020-01-17T19:04:16.445Z

Seven criminals including two brothers were arrested Tuesday in the capital by the police. They were involved in regular drug trafficking

Very suspicious, the two R. brothers, aged 28 and 37, used encrypted phones and changed cars very regularly. Arrested Tuesday in the capital on a letter rogatory from a judge with 5 other criminals aged 22 to 37, these two Parisian caïds were engaged for at least a year in a regular traffic in weapons of war and drugs.

During a search of a nanny's home in the 20th arrondissement ( Editor's note: person who hides drugs or weapons ), the police from the Central Office for Combating Organized Crime (OCLCO) discovered a veritable arsenal : two assault rifles, a shotgun, another twenty two long riffles, 3 automatic pistols, 2 bullet-proof vests, a hood and several hundred ammunitions. Some of the weapons, including a submachine gun, were carefully wrapped in plastic, so that no DNA was left behind, and ready for resale. Three automatic pistols, including a 7.62 and a rubber thump revolver [plastic bullets] were seized from a second infant and one of the brothers. Ecstasy, a drug very popular in festive circles, and cocaine in small quantities have also been found.

Locker as long as the arm

It was this information that led the OCLCO police to Samir and Mohamed R, who had long lockers like their arms: violent robberies, extortion, criminal association, drug transport, vehicle theft, etc. In April 2019, the Paris public prosecutor's office opens a preliminary investigation, then in June a judicial inquiry for "violation of the legislation on weapons and narcotics as well as for association of criminals".

Technical investigations quickly make it possible to determine that the two brothers are engaged in trafficking in cocaine and ecstasy, near Parisian customers and Seine-Saint-Denis. Drugs from the Netherlands by delivery of 500 tablets or one kilo. Wiretapping also confirms the existence of arms trafficking.

"A pledge of credibility in the world of banditry"

"The trade in these weapons, sold for between 2,500 and 3,000 € each, represents a less lucrative trade than that of cocaine but is, on the other hand, a pledge of credibility in the world of banditry because it is a rare commodity" , observes Yann Sourisseau, N ° 2 of OCLCO. In police custody, the two "infants" who were indicted and imprisoned yesterday with two criminals admitted to having regularly stored arms and drugs for the two brothers.

"It is quite rare to arrest arms traffickers who make it a regular business. Usually these are one-off transactions between a client and a seller, ”notes the divisional commissioner. The two R brothers and a 3rd malefactor were imprisoned this Friday evening.

The investigation will have to determine the source of the weapons. Europol estimates that there are between 3 and 6 million firearms currently in circulation in the Western Balkans. A significant part of the firearms - and in particular weapons of war - circulating on the national territory today comes from the Balkans, in particular from Serbia.
