The "Dragon" space vehicle intended to fly astronauts to and beyond the space station carried out a launch which tested its ability to intercept its passengers in the event of a launch failure. The launch today (Sunday) is done without astronauts inside the spacecraft. Launch was postponed yesterday due to poor weather conditions at the landing site.

During the experiment, SpaceX deliberately destroyed the rocket on which the dragon was launched (Falcon 9), to demonstrate an extreme situation in which the missile explodes. This is the last unmanned experiment before "Dragon" starts transporting people to the space station. Last April, the dragon completed a successful voyage to the space station and back, a mission in which Boeing, which competes with SpaceX head on with its "Starliner", failed it just a few weeks ago.

In the exercise, about a minute and a half after the launch, a cancellation and escape procedure was implemented. At the designated time, eight "super-dragon" engines operating in the body of the "dragon", which separated the capsule from the missile, carried it safely to land with a parachute at sea.
