Terry Jones, co-founder of Monty Python, their filmmaker and several other cinematic classics, passed away at the age of 77, in 2016 Jones revealed that he was suffering from dementia diagnosed the year before.
Jones was an integral part of the Monty Python band, participated in each episode of their skating program, The Flying Circus (1969-1974), and wrote some of their legendary skits along with his writing partner and composer, Michael Palin. Much of Python's language is attributed to Jones, who had an affinity for surrealistic humor based on a stream of consciousness and the absence of punch-lines. Jones has directed alone or in partnership with others the group films, including "Brian the Supreme" and "Monty Python and the Holy Grail." After her friends left, Jones continued to work in film and television, and was responsible, among other things, for the first draft of Jim Hanson's "Maze" (1986), directed by "Eric the Viking" (1989), including starring his friend Monty Python, III John Cleese, and edited "The Wind in the Creek Arabs" (1996).

Aside from his entertainment career, and from one Monty Python union to the next, Jones was also a medieval historian, publishing books in the field and chairing documentary programs on the subject. In addition, he wrote nearly 20 children's books (including the 1983 Eric Viking film on which the film was based) and opinion columns for British newspapers on political issues, mainly on the fight against terrorism and resistance to war in Iraq during the 2000s.
Jones was twice married, leaving a wife and three children.
