A new attraction dedicated to Space, unique in our country and in Europe, is on the launch pad at Magicland , the largest Amusement Park in the Center - South: it is called Cosmo Academy and it is a project that transforms the exploration and study of 'Universe in a fun adventure, without ever losing the rigor of science.
Cosmo Academy, whose opening is scheduled for spring, will be realized thanks to the exclusive patronages and collaborations: of the European Space Agency (ESA), the Italian Space Agency in (ASI), of the National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF) and also thanks to the major Italian companies in the sector such as Thales Alenia Space Italia , Telespazio , Avio and e-GEOS . Responsible for the scientific project Letizia Davoli , astrophysicist, scientific journalist.
The development of the concept was entrusted to the designers of the ISIA ROMA Desig n University , a public institute of Design in the AFAM network of MIUR .
The new area dedicated to space will have an extension of over three thousand square meters around the Planetarium already existing in the Amusement Park, which with its dome of 26 meters and 250 seats is the largest in Europe.
With the construction of Cosmo Academy, the Planetarium will also undergo an important restyling in design and technical equipment, in fact, it will be equipped with new ultra-high definition projectors that will bring a piece of the Universe to Earth. This is the first Italian Edutainment project dedicated to Space , which combines the scientific rigor of studying the Universe with the fun experience typical of Amusement Parks.
The new attraction will develop over 8 stages that will take the public on an immersive journey through the Solar System and, on board the ISS with European astronauts, in orbit around the Earth and on M arte , to follow the search for life on the red planet . Thanks to the collaboration with space agencies and aerospace companies, the satellites of the most important missions and programs of today and in recent years will be present at Cosmo Academy, from COSMO-SkyMed to Sentinel, from Rosetta to Huygens, from Cassini to Exomars2020 . Up to VegaC , the evolution of the current European launcher developed in Italy, Vega.
Cosmo Academy will offer special experiences and access to schools throughout Italy that will be able to enjoy events tailored for students, thanks also to the presence of tutors specialized in scientific dissemination that will follow the children throughout the visit.
