(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 24 - The linkage pollution from Pfas has been identified, the chemicals that can be present in paints, drugs and medical devices, and cardiovascular diseases. An Italian research has found that these pollutants can activate platelets, making them more susceptible to coagulation and predisposing to an increase in cardiovascular risk. The research is from the University of Padovas under the guidance of Carlo Foresta, professor of endocrinology, with the groups of Luca De Toni and Andrea Di Nisio. The research, published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, was born from the observations reported both in international studies by the Veneto Regional Epidemiological Service which indicate an increase in cardiovascular risk associated with pollution by Pfas, the perfluorinated compounds that are used to make resistant to fats and water many products, from fabrics to coatings for food containers.
