Suzuki takes a decisive step forward towards the goal of cutting CO2 emissions and achieving the stringent objectives set by the EU on this issue. And it does so by presenting the new Boosterjet 1.4 high-efficiency 129 HP engine coupled with a 48 Volt hybrid system that guarantees, on the basis of approval tests, a reduction in consumption of up to 25% on the urban cycle and up to 20% on the combined cycle. For the two cars that bring this innovation to the market - Vitara and S-Cross - the debut is scheduled with two doors open on 8-9 and 22-23 February, the first at the same time as the Sanremo Festival, of which Suzuki is the car Official. The spotlight will turn on not only on the results that this technology offers in terms of improving efficiency - and therefore on the contribution to environmental conservation - but also on accessibility, given that the prices being launched start at € 20,950 (23,150 with 4-wheel drive) for the Vitara SUV and 20,990 euros (23,190 euros for the 4WD variant) for the S-Cross crossover. The increases are contained (respectively, for comparable set-ups, of 1,400 and 1,700 euros) and largely offset not only by the new hybrid technology but by the additional contents. Strengthened by a personal stylistic connotation, which is at the origin of the success of these models in very different audiences, Suzuki Vitara and S-Cross in the new hybrid variants are recognized for the new chrome-blue nameplate in the tail that emphasizes the presence of the mixed petrol-electric system and which obviously helps to be recognized by other users and by the police in the event of traffic blocks or areas prohibited to non-eco vehicles. To externally underline the innovations from a technological point of view, Vitara Hybrid is now equipped with full Led projectors with a new design, which add a gritty touch thanks also to a blue profile inside the optical group. The heart of these two new models is the 1.4 Boosterjet engine supercharged with an optimized turbo that guarantees a high torque value even at low revs to which is now added the electric unit which - as is known - provides additional torque every time detects the driver's request for an 'energetic' starting point. The total available already at 2,000 rpm is 325 Nm. The system consists of a 48 Volt Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) which acts as an engine, alternator and starter motor. The energy is supplied by a lithium-ion battery completed by a 48-12 Volt converter which supplies the services with 'traditional' voltage. The entire system is characterized by a weight of only 45 kg and is particularly compact, with all the elements integrated directly into the thermal engine block or positioned under the front seats, without stealing space and passengers and luggage. As it was possible to appreciate in a short closed circuit test, the Suzuki Hybrid system guarantees a discrete increase in torque and above all an optimization in the delivery of the same in the so-called 'transitional phases'. Both Vitara and S-Cross at start and acceleration 'push' with greater emphasis thanks to the contribution of the electrical section supporting the turbine until it has reached its efficiency. The electric motor, if you adopt a 'normal' driving, allows you to minimize the load on the heat engine, reducing fuel consumption and emissions thanks to a new function. In deceleration, the electric unit manages autonomously the idle rotation of the Boosterjet without the introduction of petrol, thus eliminating the slowdown consumption. In the 2-wheel drive version, Vitara Hybrid now emits 104 g / km of CO2, 21% less, as is the improvement in consumption in the urban cycle (5.2 l / 100 km against 6.9, i.e. 25 % savings) and in the combined cycle (4.6 versus 5.7 equal to -19%). The cut in CO2 emissions (-21%) and consumption in the urban cycle (-25%) is identical for the S-Cross Hybrid 2WD, while petrol savings are even more significant when combined, which drops from 5.8 to 4.6 l / 100 km i.e. -21%.

Of great help, the Adas package that reduces stress and risks: in Vitara, in addition to the Adaptive Cruise Control, the 'Guardaspalle' devices for monitoring blind spots, 'Vaipure', which warns of the presence of other vehicles in reverse, stand out. 'Occhioallimite', which recognizes road signs and the evolved 'Attentofrena' which provides for collisions and investments with video cameras, lasers and radar.

Vitara Hybrid also has 'Guidadritto' to keep the lane and 'Stay awake' to avoid sleep. S-Cross, from its account, offers 'Attentofrena' and Adaptive Cruise Control.
