In the hall of the Ferrari museum in Maranello where the red single-seaters that made the history of F1 are celebrated (from Clay Regazzoni to Michael Schumacher), from today, in the center, there is also the 488 Gte that triumphed last year in Le Mans. The temple of the history of the Cavallino has in fact inaugurated a special exhibition in the afternoon (open from 15 January to 19 April) dedicated to the legendary endurance race defined by Antonello Coletta (Head of Ferrari Sporting GT) as "the most important in the world ", where Ferrari has collected 36 hits.
A real 'gem' of the set-up for Le Mans is a special simulator thanks to which visitors can race on the 13 kilometers of France. Each of them will also be able to challenge the best lap time marked by David Tonizza, F1 and Sport Series World Champion. The best will be invited back to the Ferrari museum, from 20 to 22 March, for a final challenge that will decide the winner.
Seventy years have passed since the first victory of the Maranello car manufacturer on the French track, an anniversary that the museum has decided to emphasize by making available to visitors also a 166 MM, the first red to pass the Le Mans finish line in front of everyone in the ' 49. At the cutting of the ribbon there were the great protagonists of last year's victory, especially the pilots Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Cataldo and Daniel Serra, who were thus able to find the fireball with which they excelled in the Lmgte Pro class, with the most area raised on the podium of Le Mans.
"As an Italian - Guidi's words - it was really a dream to win there dressed in red. Also because what was called the endurance race, today is actually a 24 hour sprint race. Only in the last hour did we have the chance to relax a little thanks to the advantage gained ". To applaud Guidi and his companions also Giancarlo Fisichella, Toni Vilander and Andrea Bertolini, who signed the successes 2012-2014 and 2015. The official inauguration of the exhibition led to Maranello Pierre Fillon and Gérard Neveu, president of Aco and CEO of the Wec.
Even so, Ferrari intends to exceed the numbers of the two museums (Maranello and Modena) conquered last year, when, overall, 600 thousand visitors, Nicola Boari (Chief Brand) recalled.
