We often tell you here, about the desire of automakers to reinvent themselves. It is usually a statement or move made overseas. This time it is a move that will take place here in Israel in the coming months. The move concerns the launch of the Kinto (KINTO) brand in Israel - the European mobility brand.

Before explaining this to Kinto and what he has to offer, let's take a step back to look at the big picture. Kinto is not only a brand new, but a clear and orderly strategy for Toyota's deep and wide change that seeks to change its designation from a car manufacturer to a mobility company for all. Toyota is not alone in this campaign. Almost all automakers operate under different names that usually include the words "Smart" and "Mobility" on their derivatives. Some manufacturers work with sub-brands in the field, some more successful and some less successful. The difference is that this time it is something much broader in terms of Toyota, and for us this is the first time such a move is coming to Israel.

The main idea behind the Kinto brand base (as well as competitors) is the change of car ownership, which is taking place worldwide. Fewer and fewer young people are rushing to get a driver's license, and fewer people want to own a car. Those people have less of a feeling for a particular brand and they treat the car as another means of getting from point to point. no more.

The Kinto brand is just for that. The name Kinto in Japanese means: "Service that appears quickly when needed" and it was first launched in Japan in February 2019 in partial format and about a month ago in Europe. Kinto services include a number of areas including long-term full-service operating leasing (including Lexus models), short-term leasing, car-sharing service based on Toyota and Lexus hybrid-electric models, and co-driving. It is still unclear how and what will be launched in Israel, but it is undoubtedly a first step in the revolution that will change the user-car relationship.

Importers also outlined Toyota's strategy for the coming years: By 2025, the company (Toyota and Lexus) is expected to launch 40 new or updated models. This includes at least one hybrid vehicle charged from one outlet per year, and at least 10 fully electric models (electricity or hydrogen). In terms of sales mix, that means that by 2025, about 70% of sales will be from hybrid tools, 10% plug-ins, 10% fully electric, and only 10% of sales with thermal engines, mainly SUVs and sports cars, such as the Gazo Racing or GR in brief).

For the next year Toyota importer plans to launch 4 models:
Proise City -
A commercially compatible Citroen Burlingo which introduces the importer to a new segment. In the past, the importer has announced that it does not plan to market the model in the country, but plans have changed. The new model in Israel will only be called City, will be offered in a 5 or 7-seater configuration with a 1.5-liter engine at three suppliers (75, 100 and 130 kW) with the two weaker versions combined with a manual box and the strong version combined with an 8-speed automatic box. The format that Citroën Burlingo comes with is the difference between them being that Burlingo comes in an original finish and that of Toyota City in the finish that will be made in the country (including seats, carpets, windows, etc.) with us in the second quarter of 2020.

Hybrid Camry - The big family returns after a short period of absence. As before, it will arrive in Japan, in hybrid and European standard (at the beginning of its marketing it came from the US). The previous move from the US to Japan led to a rise in power from 208 to 218 hp probably due to standard differences and no improvement in performance. The power drops back to 208 hp, and this time there is no change in performance or fuel consumption of 23.3 km per liter under laboratory conditions. Upon its return, Camry raises NIS 5,000 at two levels: starting at NIS 185,000 to the LE finisher level and NIS 205,000 The XLE has been left unchanged.

It is based on the TNGA platform (which also serves Corolla and Camry, among others), in its abbreviated version known as GA-B. In its bow there is for the first time a combination of a 3-cylinder engine (gasoline) and an electric motor. The combined supply is 115 hp. We have the second half of this year.

Rab 4 Hybrid plug-in -
The first rechargeable version of the model will combine a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor that together produce 306 kW. Allowing an electric travel range of 65 km. With us in the second half of 2020.
