Abduction alerts: Berenyss, Tizio, Vincente ... these children marked for life

2020-02-12T09:55:13.642Z

The sad outcome of the kidnapping alert of Vanille, killed by her mother, recalls that behind this device are hidden stories

“There was undoubtedly a before and after the kidnapping alert. The lawyer for the family of little Berenyss, briefly kidnapped in April 2015 in Meurthe-et-Moselle, recognizes this: if the deployment of this large-scale research device is necessary to find a kidnapped child as quickly as possible, this intense media coverage also has lasting consequences on its existence.

As for the 28 minors concerned since 2005, for several hours, on April 25, 2015, the smiling face of Berenyss, a little girl with brown hair then aged 7, was projected on the television screens of millions of households in the Hexagon.

Behind the spread of these baby faces, supposed to be blurred by the media as soon as they were found, there are sometimes criminal or criminal acts, other times kidnappers with more vague motivations, but also, for half of the identified cases, family conflicts. And sometimes, as in the case of Vanille, a sad mixture of all this.

The little girl was celebrating her first birthday on Friday when her mother smothered her in a park in Angers. A few hours later a kidnapping alert was triggered. The only fatal one to date, the little girl having already died during the deployment of the device.

Berenyss is "identified everywhere in his village"

In the case of Berenyss, this alert saved his life, assures the lawyer of his parents Me Zakia Aït Ali Slimane. Her captor, Eric Fauchard, a fifty-year-old farmer, released her after eight hours, without having raped her. "Without the kidnapping alert, we might never have found her alive," says the lawyer, who highlights the criminal's inclinations. Le Meusois, arrested five days after the kidnapping - for which he was sentenced in 2016 to five years in prison - was also tried for sexual assault committed on three young girls around him.

Relatives of these small victims remain permanently marked by these stories that they hope to one day leave behind. “There was trauma for the whole Berenyss family, insists Me Aït Ali Slimane. They benefited from psychological monitoring and began to barricade their house, monitoring the slightest gestures of Berenyss and the two other children. You realize, she got embarked at the end of the street! "

The girl, now aged 11, is following normal schooling. But the lawyer deplores: “She is identified everywhere in her village, it is not as if she could have found herself drowned in the crowd in a big city. "

Identified by their first names

Because Berenyss, like Djenah, Osnachi or Enis, other children briefly abducted, bear particularly recognizable names. A brand that is difficult to get rid of. Even in a metropolis. This is the case of Rifki, now 9 years old, kidnapped in Rennes on August 15, 2015 and found the next day in Libourne station. Her abductor, Ahamed Ansuifoudine, was sentenced in 2018 to 15 years in prison for "kidnapping", "forcible confinement" and "sexual assault". "The boy's relatives want his story to be publicized as little as possible. His first name is so recognizable that they are very careful, ”says their lawyer, who is still waiting for the outcome of a compensation procedure.

The Enis family also tries to erase the stigma of this kidnapping alert and the drama to which it is intrinsically linked. In 2007, at 5 years old, the boy had been kidnapped and raped by Francis Evrard, a man with heavy pedophile inclinations, still convicted last year for having consulted child pornography images from his prison.

Today a teenager, Enis is rebuilding with his loved ones. "My boy is growing well, he's almost getting to my height now!" It's my happiness… He evolves, he plays football ”, confided his dad to La Voix du Nord, in 2013, while also evoking having gone through difficult years, where guilt, alcohol consumption and depression are intertwined. Enis, who had been drugged by his kidnapper, does not have "any after-effects or precise memories," said his father. However, the case, which received a lot of media attention, regularly reminds him. “When the kids see it on TV, they tell their parents about it, and the next day, Enis' friends tell him about it. He has already come home crying. It can be cruel, children… ”, laments the teenage father.

Vicente, witness to violence against her mother

When the abduction of a child is the result of a lasting marital or family conflict, the family must try all the more to recover. Adam, Nathanaël and even Djenah were briefly abducted by their father. Sometimes the outcome is even dramatic. That of Ibrahima, and that of Joris, Jad, and Alia also killed their mothers.

Vicente, now 8 years old, has witnessed the violence that his father, Jason Lopez, known for his videos of provocations interposed with other members of the Traveler community, inflicted on his mother, Dolores Lopes, by kidnapping him in 2017 in Clermont-Ferrand. The boy was found a month later, unharmed. Her father, who had just escaped from prison during the abduction, was sentenced to five years in prison last month. He appealed.

Me Bertrand Chautard, lawyer for Vicente's mother, is pleased that this father, just as violent as the media, has also been sentenced to a ban on contacting the mother and appearing in the department of Puy-de -Dome. “The child has not been subjected to physical violence, but he is traumatized and the family does not want to experience this anymore. He saw his father point a gun at his mother's temple! “, Comments Me Chautard.

Tizio, in the care of his father

It also happens that these abductions give rise to an unexpected outcome to say the least. Little Tizio was two months old when his father, Brendan, kidnapped him at Purpan hospital in Toulouse in January 2018. The child, who suffers from significant physical and mental disabilities following a lack of oxygen at birth was supplied by gastric tubes and intravenous lines. After his arrest, his father, a 35-year-old basket maker, put forward a “gesture of love” for his son, when he said that the latter was “in pain” at the hospital.

Today it is he who has full custody of his 2 year old son, tells us his lawyer, Ludovic Seree de Roch, while relations between his parents remain tense. And the child is better. "He was discharged from the hospital three months ago and the expert report showed that the abduction had had no impact on his health," says the defender, who hails his "exceptional ability to resist ". Brendan will still be tried for the kidnapping, but no date has been released.
