As professional athletes use special clothing and shoes, most professional gamers won't settle for cheap accessories. Bassoni recognized the potential and launched a new add-on for the remote, adding increased control over the console sign. Through it, you can do more. Does he do the work?

Computer games have long been not (just) children's games. Many gamers manage to make a living from their hobby by participating in e-sports leagues, the only difference between "real" sports being that it is a competition that can be excelled in sitting in front of a screen in an air-conditioned room. How to become "professional gamers"? As with any other sport, dozens of hours a month have to be spent on grueling workouts, and innate talent is also harmful. Oh, and accessories, too. Lots and lots of accessories.

As professional athletes use special clothing and shoes, most professional gamers will not settle for the cheapest keyboard they find in the store, but will invest a great deal in sophisticated peripherals: mechanical keyboards, zero-response mice and more. Sony recently joined in the celebration with the dualshock 4 back button attachment. A plug-in that dresses on your PlayStation remote and adds two additional buttons that should, at least on paper, help you become professional gamers. I took it for a few rounds of Call of Duty and came back with some conclusions.

Button and flower

The plug-in connects to the usual PlayStation sign, and "dresses" on its back. It adds two back buttons, which are in the area where the fingertips, which you have probably not used so far during play, are naturally inferior to it. The two new buttons are programmable, so they actually "double" the functionality of other buttons on the remote. Why is this whole thing good? In cases where access to certain buttons requires you to move your finger a relatively long distance. For example, take your finger off the joystick and stretch it to reach one of the arrow buttons. If you have programmed the new buttons so that they are used as the desired arrow button, you can press it quickly, without moving your finger.

The whole business will save you a few tenths of a click, which is really not much but can be the difference between winning and losing at the higher levels of e-sports. The add-on, then, will help you improve performance - but only if your gaming skills are at the top of the top, as "normal" players do not really improve. And as a matter of fact, my only middle-of-the-game skills in Call of Duty were not significantly enhanced with the new accessory. While it did help me throw grenades without moving my finger from the L2 to L1 button, which on paper should have saved me a few frames per grenade, my actual "bottleneck" in my performance in the game is not the remote, but my aging brain, which no longer works as it used to .

Does this make the plugin worthless for regular gamers? Not necessarily. The plug-in is easy to use (it even has a small, efficient LED screen for button programming), and adds a weight to the PlayStation remote that makes it more handy, in a good section. It's easy to get used to, but if you're not competitive gamers it's just a slight improvement in quality of life, and not something that will significantly change the way you play. Its only major drawback is that it slightly shortens the low battery time in the first place of the sign.

Not just the rich

The concept of "back buttons" is not new to the market, but has so far been reserved for extremely expensive professional equipment. For example, the Xbox One console's Elite sign has four such buttons, but its price is about NIS 800. The PlayStation plug-in is much less painful in your pocket: NIS 149, and you can turn your remote into a professional semi.
