The pilot of an airplane crashed at sea was still wanted, this Tuesday evening, off Fécamp (Seine-Maritime), a few hours after the incident, according to various local media.
According to Le Courrier Cauchois, an important rescue device was deployed, with 18 machines and 32 people including rescuers at sea, a helicopter of the French Navy and a team of divers.
One occupant on the plane
According to France 3, the plane, a four-seat DR400 single-engine aircraft, would have left Saint-André-de-l'Eure aerodrome in the afternoon. The pilot would be a "regular at the aerodrome. "
"The aircraft, with only one person on board (...), was in the direction of Saint-Valéry-en-Caux (Seine-Maritime) and searches are continuing in the area to try to find the pilot", indicates the maritime prefecture in a press release.
Several witnesses as well as the semaphore of Fécamp warned the Regional Operational Center for Surveillance and Rescue (Cross) Gris-Nez that a small aircraft had just crashed about two kilometers northwest of Fécamp at around 3:40 p.m. Two hours later, the pilot had still not been found.
