A dramatic fire with a particularly heavy human toll: on the night of Wednesday to Thursday, five people perished in the flames which ravaged their building, in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin).
Seven wounded are also to be deplored in this incident, announce the firemen, who carried out "many rescues and put in safety", because of "the thick smoke which had invaded the commons".
The incident broke out shortly after one in the morning in a stairwell of a seven-storey building, located rue de Barr, in the station district, explains a press release from the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis) quoted by Les Actualités Nouvelles d'Alsace.
The evacuees were received in a gymnasium.
