Senegal announced Monday, March 2, its first case of new coronavirus, on a Frenchman who stayed in France in February before returning to Senegal and who was quarantined in Dakar.

This is the second confirmed case in sub-Saharan Africa after Nigeria, which involved an Italian who also returned from his country. "The results of the tests carried out by the Pasteur Institute in Dakar have been positive," said Minister of Health Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr to the press. "To date, the patient's condition does not raise any major concerns ," he added.
