A lighter car has to fill up less frequently. Mucking out and clearing out is worthwhile now and then. But there are some things that you should definitely leave where they are.
Berlin (dpa / tmn) - If you want to make space in the car or make your vehicle a few kilograms lighter to save fuel, there are many options - from the dismantling of the roof rack or roof box to the radical clearing out of the glove compartment, storage compartments, compartments, interior and trunk .
However, there are three things that should never fall victim to a cleanup - this is how the traffic regulations want it. These are the first aid kit, the warning triangle and the warning vest. The latter is only mandatory in Germany in simple form, but it is advisable to have as many vests with you as the car has seats.
Warning money threatens
Anyone found at a police check without a first-aid kit risks a fine of 5 euros. Without a safety vest and warning triangle on board, you can pay 15 euros each.
Anyone who, by the way, cannot present the original driver's license and the registration certificate part I (vehicle license) on request must expect a fine of 10 euros.
Liquid tire sealant as an alternative
You don't have to have a spare wheel or flat tire sets on board. But those who go on a longer journey without replacement tires take the risk of being stuck on the road because of a flat tire that cannot be remedied immediately, the ADAC warns.
An alternative could be liquid tire sealants that are blown into the tires with a 12-volt compressor. According to ADAC, anyone who relies on them must know that they cannot repair all possible damage, only puncture damage in the tread or small cracks.
