Given the number of abuses, the government has decided to apply measures to combat the epidemic more strictly.

Good evening,

To assist you during the confinement period, we invite you to find here every evening a selection of interviews, surveys and reports carried out by our journalists, in France and abroad, as well as practical information.

Good reading,

Roland Gauron, journalist at Le Figaro

1. Where is the epidemic?

The latest assessment from health authorities reports the death of 450 patients. The Covid-19 coronavirus claimed an additional 78 lives in 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health. The epidemic forced 5226 patients to be hospitalized, including nearly 1300 in intensive care. In all, 12,612 cases were identified in the territory. Nearly 1,600 patients have left hospitals and are considered cured.

History of the epidemic in the 50 most affected countries. Marie Coussin and Nicolas Mondon for Fig Data

“In France, we are faced with an epidemic that is gradually spreading and worsening rapidly with intense viral circulation. Our goal is to mitigate and offset the effects of this wave as much as possible ” , judges the Director General of Health, Jérôme Salomon. The professor specifies that the peak of the epidemic in France was expected within 5 to 8 days.

2. What happened today

Too many refractories. "Stay at home , " plead the many resuscitators interviewed by Le Figaro . Interior Minister Christophe Castaner made it clear that the containment measures "would be applied more strictly" . Already, the authorities are showing themselves to be more and more drastic in order to restrict the comings and goings. They are also worried about the proliferation of scammers, "decontaminators" and other fake doctors. Because, according to our security and intelligence specialist, Christophe Cornevin, "the epidemic is breeding ground for a proliferation of scams of all kinds" .

Confined testimonies. Many of you have shared with us your questions and experiences during this exceptional period. Some share a cramped apartment and try as much as possible to respect barrier gestures. “Being isolated in the Antilles sun is no better or no worse than being confined to metropolitan France. We see that the weather is super nice, we only have one desire, it's to go to the beach ... but we can't! ” , testify to Le Figaro two Ultramarins. Or Georges Duvivier, retired from the Oise, who explains in a video to Figaro Live that he has retained the after-effects of the disease, despite his recovery.

The ability to conduct numerous tests will be essential to prevent the epidemic from starting again.

Vincent Bordenave and Tristan Vey from the "Figaro" Science Service

Should we massively screen? "To get out of confinement, the ability to carry out a large number of tests will be essential to prevent the epidemic from starting again afterwards , " judge Vincent Bordenave and Tristan Vey from our Science department. France could believe them to change their strategy by now detecting healthy carriers, and thus follow the example of South Korea and the Veneto, where the epidemic has been better contained. To do this, a serological test is being developed at the Institut Pasteur. The method will be used to better calculate the mortality rate linked to the disease.

Elsewhere in the world. From Jerusalem, Thierry Oberlé recounts a clandestine operation by the Israeli secret services to deliver kits to the Hebrew State to detect the virus. When, in Greece, Sotiris Tsiodras, brilliant specialist in infections and recognized in the world, revealed himself to his compatriots during the health crisis. 3. Read, discover, cook…

During confinement, the "Et vous" notebook in Le Figaro turns into "Chez vous". Cinema, art, music, literature ... an infinite field is available to us for entertainment during this period.

Listen. Figaro classical music specialist Thierry Hillériteau invites you to discover The Unknown Debussy , by pianist Nicolas Horvath. The pianist brings back to life "fifteen unfinished, replaced or voluntarily forgotten pieces" by the composer Claude Debussy. "So many fascinating first recordings, whose feeling of exhumation is reinforced by the virtuoso and evanescent playing of Horvath, as much as by the muffled tones of the piano of the 1920s chosen for this disc" , advises the journalist.

To escape. Today we deliver our favorites of virtual museum visits. Among the many initiatives that caught our attention, that of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Anne-Sophie Pic, three-star chef from Valence

To cook. For dinner, Anne-Sophie Pic serves us for dinner a classic of French cuisine: the quiche lorraine. “Lorraine quiche has always had its place on our family table. Even today, my mother prepares them for us at least once a month, during the week, at dinner time! ” recounts the three-star chef from Valence. “My little twist, to give it pep and greed, is to flavor the device with Savora. Since I was a little girl, I really liked this spicy turmeric mustard, which my parents often used at home. ”

And to reassure the powerful fan community that already has video games: "If the stores specializing in video games are closed, the title is available in hypermarkets."
