The warning from French health authorities against the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (ibuprofen, aspirin, etc.) in the event of fever has provoked many reactions in France and abroad. It was the occurrence of serious respiratory forms in young people, without risk factors, whose only common point was to have consumed a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which had raised this alert. As of March 14, Olivier Véran and the Director General of Health were communicating on the subject. The message hammered since by the French health authorities is to ban NSAIDs to treat a fever or pain, and to favor paracetamol without exceeding the dose of 3 grams per day. Ibuprofen, a molecule widely used in self-medication and on prescription, is particularly targeted.
