Coronavirus, new deadlines for driving tests and pink sheets

There are numerous deadlines regarding the management of cars, motorcycles, licenses and circulation in general which have been postponed as a result of the Cura Italia decree connected with the coronavirus. The Observatory for Road Safety Education of the Emilia-Romagna Region makes a summary of this, which reiterates how the extension of the deadlines derives above all from the fact that - in compliance with the regulations in force - Civil Motorization offices, driving schools and car practices agencies are closed during this period. The theoretical driving exams, originally set for 30 June, must be booked to the competent Motorization Authority and will take place after that date and within 6 months from the submission of the application without the need to submit a further request. As regards temporary driving permits and rose sheets, the former are extended to June 30, 2020, while if the deadline for the rose sheet is between February 1 and April 30, this is extended until June 30, 2020.

From 10 March to 3 April, all deadlines of 60 days for the payment of fines and 30 days for the submission of the appeal to the Justice of the Peace are also suspended.

Except for new provisions issued by the Government, therefore, the terms will resume from 4 April, the date from which the two months to start paying without delay will start to run again.

A little more time also to renew auto and motorbike insurance: the Companies generally report the expiration of the policy at least 30 days in advance of the indicated one and keep the coverage up to 15 days later. With the new regulations - and this is valid until July 31st - the days of coverage after the deadline increase to 30, that is 15 more than the ordinary rule.
