Israeli security firm Check Point has unveiled a number of sites impersonating the streaming service, which has become even more popular as a result of the Corona crisis.

Over the past two weeks, there has been a significant increase of between 2,600 attacks a day and 5,000 cyber attacks around the Corona issue, Israeli security firm Check Point reports on Thursday. According to Check Point, 84 percent of these attacks were made through phishing - hackers impersonate an existing site under a different address and entice the victim to enter credit or paypal information.

Naturally, the Netflix brand that became especially popular during this period became more usable by hackers. Check Point has doubled the number of phishing sites using the brand name. Most of them have been registered in recent months and some actually contain the brand name along with the corona netflixcovid19s \ .com. These sites are sites that request a form of payment for using Netflix to steal the victim's credit card information.

Corona-related attacks are defined as attacks that include sites containing the terms corona / covid in their domain, emails containing malicious files containing the term corona in the file name, and malicious files sent in emails that have the virus-related content.

How to be careful? At Check Point they shared some tips to keep in mind:

Be careful about phishing sites, some contain spelling errors within the site or in the text that appears in the emails sent to you. If you are unfamiliar with the email sender - exercise extreme caution.

Avoid opening files or clicking on links that come in emails from an unidentified source or that you are asked to take an unusual action.

When placing a paid order - whether it is a movie or any other consumer product - make sure you place the order from an original service provider site you are interested in. We recommend that you avoid clicking links for discounted or discounted emails, and instead click on the search engine that sells the vendor name and enter the site through the links that appear in the search results.
