A complete set of ADAS that protects and helps the driver (ANSA)

With the debut of the fourth generation Seat Leon becomes the safest model that the Spanish company of the Volkswagen Group has ever developed. This not only thanks to a high level of passive safety, but also to the integration of a cutting-edge 'package' of advanced driver assistance system, the so-called ADAS.

The goal was to protect not only passengers in the event of an accident, but also to prevent collisions in all Leon use situations. That's why these systems are always on alert and monitor the surrounding environment with images and data collected by cameras, ultrasonic sensors and radar. Seat Leon can thus react to obstacles on the road or sudden maneuvers of other road users and provide timely and effective assistance to the driver by minimizing the risk or consequences of an accident. Here are the systems present in the fourth generation of Seat Leon.

ADAPTIVE AND PREDICTIVE CRUISE CONTROL The ACC system not only adapts the speed to those of other vehicles traveling in the same direction, but adds a predictive element allowing you to adapt the pace according to the route selected in the navigation system. Curves, roundabouts, intersections, speed limits or built-up areas are also taken into consideration and also - thanks to the multifunctional front chamber - to adjust the speed when the limit changes.

DOOR OPENING ALARM When the car is stationary, the rear radar continuously monitors the environment. And if a vehicle, including motorcycles and bicycles, approaches from behind when the door involved in a possible accident is opened, an acoustic and visual alarm signal is triggered through the internal LED lighting of the front doors and the dashboard. FIRST AID If the vehicle sensors detect that the driver does not have at least one hand on the steering wheel or that he lets him go for more than 15 seconds, audible and visual warnings are activated to call him to the maximum attention. If there is no answer, Leon brakes automatically and gradually. If the driver still does not respond, the Emergency Assist stops the car completely, activates the hazard lights and initiates an emergency call. EMERGENCY BRAKING WITH CYCLIST PEDESTRIAN DETECTION This ADAS warns the driver through a visual and acoustic warning when it detects a risk of collision with the vehicle in front, or with a cyclist or a pedestrian. If the driver does not react, the system automatically brakes.

LANE ASSIST The system checks the position of the vehicle in the lane and warns the driver when the vehicle approaches or passes the horizontal signs, provided that the driver has not activated the direction indicators. This ADAS also intervenes in the steering, applying a small amount of torque (customizable) to keep the vehicle in the lane. SIGNALS RECOGNITION WITH LIMITS DETECTION Detects different speed limits thanks to the front camera processes images of road signs, displays them on the instrument panel and transmits this information to other related systems.

SIDE ASSIST ADAS detects vehicles approaching from behind in the adjacent lanes and warns the driver through a visual signal that uses ambient LED lighting. If the driver activates the lane change indicator, an intermittent alarm is emitted to warn of the danger of this maneuver. EXIT ASSIST The rear radar detects the approach of vehicles and warns the driver of presence - and if the driver does not react, activates the braking - in those situations where the driver does not have sufficient visibility, such as when leaving a parking space with other vehicles on the sides.

TRAVEL ASSISTANT This real semi-autonomous driving function will be implemented in the near future with the introduction of the Travel Assist system. It will use ACC and Lane Assist information to keep the vehicle in lane and adjust speed to traffic by offering assisted driving up to 210 km / h.

ECALL CALL Seat Leon is equipped with an integrated SIM card means that it is used for the eCall call which directly contacts the emergency services in the event of an accident, guaranteeing passengers a higher level of safety. In the event of a serious accident (with occupants who cannot respond) the system will send the vehicle data to the emergency services, such as location, engine type, color and number of passengers.
