Coronavirus: what does "a slow decrease in increase" mean?

IN IMAGES - We could translate Jérôme Salomon's formula as "slowing down of the dynamics of the epidemic".

On Saturday April 4, Director General of Health Jérôme Salomon indicated that there was " a slow decrease in the increase " in the number of ICU patients infected with Covid-19. Overall, the number of patients hospitalized in France continues to increase every day, but this increase is a little slower than before as can be seen on the following two curves:

Covid-19 TV resuscitation and death monitoring

The same goes for the number of people admitted to intensive care.

As for the curve of cumulative deaths since the beginning of the epidemic, it too seems to mark a slight inflection which still needs to be confirmed in the days to come.

These are the figures that explain why the Director General of Health mentioned " a slow decrease in the increase ", a sort of oxymoron that could be translated by a " slowdown in the dynamics of the epidemic " . This slowdown is most likely a first effect of the containment measures taken almost three weeks ago. Which is " good news for caregivers ", said Jérôme Salomon, before adding: " We are at the beginning of the period when we can assess the impact of confinement (...) we must not relax 'effort '.
