The tool: Waspa GTS300 Price: NIS 32,900 on the clock: 3,361 km Fuel consumption this month: 28.5 km / l Special events: Sitting at home Cost of the month: No bottom line: way to quarantine?

If last month we complained about the winter that limited us, the current period has come and makes us miss the rainy days. This refers, of course, to the Corona virus, which sets new laws on traffic and adversely affects the pace of accumulation of km.

So this month, we'll talk about other things, and when it comes to iconic tools like Vespa. It's pretty simple. There are countless interesting stories and anecdotes around the Vespa. Because Vespa is much more than a scooter, it is a cultural symbol. Whoever designed to offer a clean and simple cheap traffic option has become an icon. It belongs to an exclusive group of vehicles, one that clearly relies on the design that was born in the middle of the last century.

But design is not everything. The Vespa's structure, for example, has maintained the same principle for more than 70 years. Instead of the tubes and plastic that make up every other scooter, the Vespa uses a metal body from its first day to the present. The result is sturdy and tough and unique to her as stated.

Another example could be advertising and its success won. The Vespa was a hit from the moment it was introduced. A way to move cheap and simple. Unlike motorcycles that were all two-wheel drive in those days, the Vespa offered separation between the mechanical and rider assemblies, less dirt, more road damage protection and very simple operation. After Gregory Peck assembled Audrey Hepburn on Vespa in the movie "Vacation in Rome" (1953), Vespa became a phenomenon and her sales crossed the threshold of 100,000 units the following year.

Over the years, the Vespa has become a cultural symbol and even Salvador Dali could not ignore it. He took the vespa of one of his students and designed it according to his wishes. The inspiration was inspired by his wife and main muse, Gala. Her name does appear on the side caps of the said vespa. This Vespa, the only, rare and probably the most expensive in the world, is to this day at the Vespa Museum in Pontevedra.

Not only did we say design, the Vespa may have been born to convince Europe after the war, but found itself very quickly on the racetrack. And not just on the asphalt, there were those who took the vespa farther, farther away. In 1980, four riders signed up for the Paris-Dakar race on four vespa as part of a private group. Of 211 leaps, only 81 finished two on Waspa. Yes two of them came to an end after crossing 7 countries and over 10,000 km in the grueling race. In 1985 Waspah made 4 official Waspas for the famous race. But eventually she got off the idea, destroyed three tools, and left only one for a souvenir.

There are countless such stories behind this name. And each adds to the uniqueness and feel of riding her latest incarnation. Hopefully, for better days we can enjoy free and carefree riding.
