In some regions, the authorities themselves recommend not lowering the window in order to avoid contact and therefore the risk of transmission of the virus. You just need to place the certificate and identity card clearly visible behind the tile. The Prefect of Hérault, for example, shared such instructions on Twitter on March 27.

On the ground, in Reims, from March 19, the police and gendarmes asked motorists not to open their windows, as reported by the local newspaper Union.
"In the event of an inspection, please lower the window to 2 cm and present a travel certificate and papers behind the window in order to limit contact," wrote the member for the North on Twitter on April 1. LREM Florence Morlighem.

The gendarme or the police officer only has to lean on the windshield to check the indications provided on the two documents.

But beware, continues the Ministry of the Interior: everyone "must comply with the instructions of the police, especially if they are asked to open the window, for example to chat or check other items".
In addition, if you prefer to have a digital certificate on your smartphone (available from Monday April 6), you may have to make a slit at the window in the event of an inspection. The device to scan the QR code on your mobile may not be able to get through the tile.
