The new StVO amendment has been in force since April 28. In addition to increased fines, drivers are now faster to get rid of their driver's license in the event of traffic violations.

  • The new regulations of the StVO amendment apply immediately.
  • Motorists must expect higher fines in the event of offenses.
  • Driving bans are now also issued faster than before.

The new StVO fine catalog entered into force on April 28, 2020. The traffic rules have been adapted in some aspects, among other things, to improve the protection of cyclists. The penalties drivers have to pay for traffic violations have also been redesigned. On the one hand, the fines have been increased, on the other hand, the driver's license is now withdrawn much more quickly than previously.

Up to now, 31 km / h too much on the speedometer has resulted in a driver's license being withdrawn in urban areas . This mark has now been lowered. Stricter regulations for emergency lanes

But driving is not only threatened if the speed is exceeded, other offenses are also punished. The StVO amendment stipulated stricter regulations for the formation of emergency lanes. Anyone who does not provide sufficient space for emergency vehicles and hinders their passage must also expect a one-month driving ban  , two points in Flensburg and a fine of 240 euros. Using a rescue alley yourself will be punished with the same penalty - but this will result in a fine of at least 200 euros.

StVO amendment meets with criticism

The higher penalties of the new StVO catalog of fines are heavily criticized by some sides. The Automobile Club Mobil in Germany eV considers this to be excessive and fears that up to 2 million people in Germany could lose their driving licenses. Mobil in Germany eV has started a petition to defuse the road traffic regulations and has already collected over 10,000 signatures online.
