Just four months after the discovery of SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for Covid-19, the World Health Organization already identifies more than one hundred vaccine candidates worldwide. "It's unprecedented," says Christophe d'Enfert, scientific director of the Institut Pasteur. Chinese, American, French, German, British, Japanese, big pharma and biotech laboratories, public or private: all players in the vaccine world are in the ranks.

“Recombinant proteins, inactivated viruses, viral vectors, RNA or DNA vaccines, everyone uses the technology they know best and tries to adapt it to the virus,” analyzes Bruno Pitard, CNRS research director at the Cancer Research Center and Nantes-Angers immunology. Almost every day, a new actor enters the scene. "In France alone, I have listed thirty Covid-19 vaccine projects , " points out Camille Locht, Inserm research director at the Institut Pasteur in Lille.
