The government, in an unprecedented emergency for the country, incentivizes the use of bicycles, but also of scooters, with a bonus of up to € 500, to move around the city without danger of becoming infected. "The recognition of an alternative mobility voucher for residents in metropolitan cities and urban areas with more than 50,000 inhabitants, up to a maximum of 500 euros for the purchase of bicycles, pedal-assisted, as well as mainly electric-powered personal mobility vehicles, and scooters, "announced the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Paola De Micheli, at the hearing of the Chamber Transport Commission on the effects of coronavirus on the transport sector .
500 euro bonus arrives for bikes and scooters
The minister specified that the bonus will be "erga omnes", so it will not be tied to income parameters and available to all those who request it. The measure is being developed with the Minister of the Environment Sergio Costa, added De Micheli, also rattling off some data with the start of the so-called phase 2, which saw about three million people moving with 10% of these on the vehicles public. An incentive for the purchase of bicycles had been provided for by the Mobility Bonus included in the Climate Decree, informally called the car and motorbike scrapping bonus, which arrived in the Official Journal at the end of last year. But to ask for the bonus you have to wait for the implementation decree that so far it has not been possible to do because of the coronavirus emergency. According to what is learned from ministerial sources, the technical meetings between the four ministries involved: Environment, Finance, Economic Development and Transport are practically concluded and it could lead to an unlocking of the procedure already at the end of this month.
